Brooks Falls – Katmai National Park, Alaska 2024 powered by EXPLORE.org

Brooks Falls is a famous waterfall located in Katmai National Park and Preserve in southwest Alaska. It’s renowned as one of the best places in the world to view wild brown bears (also known as grizzly bears) catching salmon. During the peak salmon run from late June to mid-July, dozens of bears gather at the falls to feed on migrating sockeye salmon as they leap up the falls. This creates spectacular opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography. A viewing platform near the falls allows visitors to safely observe the bears and other wildlife.
